SAINT VINCENT SUMMER THEATRE REHEARSALS BEGIN FOR 'FOREVER PLAID' OPENING MAY 23
Rehearsals have begun for Saint Vincent Summer Theatre’s production of the popular musical revue “Forever Plaid,” which opens on Thursday, May 23, in the Performing Arts Center in the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the Saint Vincent College campus.
Written by Stuart Ross, “Forever Plaid” is set in the early 1960s and follows four high school friends with a shared love of music who aspire to become a popular quartet in the style of such acts as The Hi-Lo’s, The Four Freshmen and The Crew Cuts.
“’Forever Plaid’ is one of the most popular and successful musicals anywhere in recent memory,” said director Greggory Brandt. “This deliciously fun revue opened off-Broadway in 1990 and is chock full of classic barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies. It features a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they’re not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s.”
The Saint Vincent Summer Theatre production of “Forever Plaid” will feature Quinn Patrick Shannon as Francis; Brandon Schraml as Smudge; Robert Farrugia as Jinx; and Kevin O’Leary as Sparky.
The preview performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 23. Regular evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 25-26; Wednesday through Friday, May 29-31; and Saturday, June 1. Matinees beginning at 2 p.m. are scheduled for Sunday, May 26, Wednesday, May 29, and Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2.
