Children’s Summer Art Camp (For ages 11-13): Bright Ideas
The Westmoreland Museum of American Art offers week-long art camps where children can explore their creativity through fun, innovative programs taught by a professional art instructor. Each camp features a different theme, and campers spend time both in the galleries and the Museum’s studio space throughout the week. Full day camps come complete with a field trip to an exciting venue related to the camp’s theme, a cool t-shirt and an exhibition at the end of week. Class Description: Artists come up with great ideas all the time and then incorporate those ideas into art. Natural light and manmade light effects will be used to create 2D and 3D works of art focusing on shadow, shading, illumination and other bright ideas. Our field trip to the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts will feature the great ideas of Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming artists. Full Day Camps for children: $125 for Museum members, $145 non-members. Full-day campers are to bring their own lunch each day. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register or for more information, contact 724.837.1500 x110 or education@thewestmoreland.org.
