MAY 2019 Member Spotlight-Natalie Debich , Sendout Cards

We talked recently with Natalie Debich, who is a cheerleader for all and brightens many days with the simple act of sending  a greeting card.  What makes this special, you ask? Natalie pays attention.  She sees special moments in your life, and commemorates them by creating a one of a kind card, just for you! We asked Natalie to tell us about the company. 

SendOutCards (SOC) was started in Salt Lake City by Kody Bateman.  He created the company in honor of his older brother Kris.  Kody was living in SLC with his wife and one year old daughter when he accepted a job with an advertising company in New York City.  His family had a going away party for them and as he was leaving he saw his brother Kris moving cars.  At that moment he had a prompting that he needed to slow down and take the time to run over and give his big brother a hug and say goodbye.  He ignored that  prompting.  He jumped in the car, honked, waved and drove away.  Two months later he received a call from his mother in the middle of the night to let him know that his brother Kris had been killed earlier that day.  This was the defining moment in his life.  He made a promise to his brother that night that he would never ignore a prompting again.  He would also help as many people as he could to act on their promptings to reach out to others.  

 

It took several years, but in 2003 Kody finally created his company, SendOutCards. His mission in life was to act on his promptings and to help others to do the same.  SOC is a phone app and a website on your computer that will help you show appreciation to others by sending real cards and gifts.  We say we are changing people’s lives one greeting card at a time.  We have delivered over 140 million cards (5 million gifts) making us the largest first-class mailing company in the United States and one of the fastest growing network marketing companies in the world.

I have been a member of the chamber for  5  years.  I first joined with Jazzercise, but also joined with SendOutCards two years ago.  I enjoy the Chamber events, our monthly Morning Mingles, Business After Hours and ribbon-cuttings.  The Chamber is very supportive of all of their members’ businesses.  It is great to be able to share SOC with others and also to learn about other members’ businesses in the area that I didn’t know existed.  I know many members never knew about SOC until I was able to share it through the Chamber events.
